A long-awaited sidewalk renovation project is now underway.
Council members are pictured at the groundbreaking for the $693,000 project. The project will include the replacement of sidewalks, the addition of railing and handicap accessible access to elevated portions of the sidewalk, resurfacing of parking spaces, and the addition of new lighting along the east side of Choctaw Avenue (Ala. Hwy. 17), from the Alabama Insurance office to the intersection of Barrytown Road.
The Town gained a TAP (Transportation Alternative Program) grant for the project, at a cost of $629,201.
The completion date for the project is set for no later than August 9.
